St Theresia's Catholic Parish of Mbetta is one of the canonical parishes of the diocese of Mamfe. Administratively, it falls within the Nguti subdivision of the Kupe-Muanenguba division, in the South West Province of Cameroon. Mbetta Parish is the oldest parish in the diocese of Mamfe. It was founded in 1934 by the early missionaries. The parish is very large and belongs to Zone II of Mamfe Diocese. It consists of five `areas' and some 27 mission stations. |

The parish is located in a very rural, hilly and densely forested area. There is only one seasonal road that leads to the nearest town which is approximately 45km away. Those who wish to travel to the town or the missions do so on foot.

There are three Primary Health Centres which are basically Catholic initiatives. |

There are also three primary schools and one secondary school. |

Most of the parish buildings are dilapidated and in need of upgrading or repair.

When Mbetta and Gosport first twinned back in 2002 the parish priest of Mbetta was Fr Peter-Paul Ibeagha. He was succeeded by Fr Manfred Ejong and his curate Fr Ignatius Agure. A new parish priest, Fr Julius Agbor Toko was installed in May 2007 and he will continue to be assisted by Fr Ignatius. Fr Manfred has moved on to the parish of Fotabong which is also in the diocese of Mamfe.
